Beyond Baytown
Through the various ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples
of Christ) in the United States and Canada, we help support the
largest faith-based private provider of nursing home care in the
United States. In addition, we help support universities, colleges,
and mission centers in Los Angeles, The Northwest and Appalachia. Beyond
these direct ministries, we assist in the building of new
communities of faith, redeveloping congregations, providing for the
needs of retired servants of the church and educating people for
their call to ministry.
As part of the Christian Church in the Southwest, we help support a
Refugee Resettlement House in Northern Mexico and the Rio Grande
Valley. Further, we support the Disciples Oaks Retreat Center in Gonzales,
Texas. This center provides space for thousands of youth and adults
as they seek to grow their faith in retreats, camps, and
conferences. We have also participated in Habitat for Humanity
projects in the Greater Houston Area.
Through The Week of Compassion we respond to sudden needs around the
world. The Disciples were a major contributor to relief efforts
right here in Southeast Texas during the recent storms. We respond in similar ways to
emergencies wherever they occur.
